North American (NAM) version of N97 is now available for purchase in the US, only one week after Nokia announced the smartphone would hit 75 countries this month. You should be able to get a N97 if you visit Nokia’s flagship stores in New York and Chicago. The handset is sold unlocked, for the price of $699.
Reportedly, the flagship stores only have the black version of Nokia N97, so if you want the white one you’ll have to pre-order it from Nokia USA’s website – for the same retail price.
The main features of Nokia N97 include:

* 3.5 inches TFT touchscreen display with 360 x 640 pixels and 16 million colors
* Full QWERTY keyboard

* 32GB of internal memory
* MicroSDHC card support, up to 16GB
The $699 price of Nokia N97 may be too high for some customers. But then again, that’s probably what an iPhone 3G S 32GB would cost, if offered unlocked. And I’m not sure the new iPhone has what it takes to be considered a better phone than the N97.
